A question was asked of me recently, "What are your administrative and decision-making experiences?"
With a career spanning 27 years in the Laramie County Sheriff's office, I held several leadership roles, including Lieutenant and Captain, from 2011 to 2023. I honed administrative skills that will benefit the community if elected to the Laramie County Board of Commissioners.
As Patrol Lieutenant, I oversaw the day-to-day operations of street deputies and numerous specialty units such as S.W.A.T and K-9. These duties included budgeting for each area, handling personnel issues as they came up, and working closely with the county human resource director and county attorney.
In my role as Detention Captain, I was responsible for the 24 million dollar budget for the jail, handled all personnel issues, supervised the command staff, and oversaw the day-to-day operations of the jail. Commissioners have to make tough decisions that are only sometimes popular with everyone; I am no stranger to making tough decisions under extreme circumstances. As Detention Captain, I made tough decisions to get the facility through the COVID crisis, which included managing staff shortages, implementing safety protocols, and ensuring the well-being of inmates. My day-to-day decisions included reviewing and approving multi-million dollar contracts with the various vendors supplying support roles to the jail and disciplinary matters concerning staff. As Detention Captain, I worked with the County Finance Director, County Attorney, Grants Director, Human Resource Director, and the Commissioners. Over the years, I have fostered exceptional working relationships with these individuals. I also developed close working relationships with various City, County, State, and National agencies.
With my extensive background, I am ready on day one to roll up my sleeves and go to work for the citizens of Laramie County.
